Album Notes:
The self-titled, ten song recording Nathan Johnson, (sometimes referred to as the Pennies CD or Many Pennies),
is Nathan's first release, and still a favorite among many fans. It's a solid showcase for Nathan's voice, as well as
his eclectic approach to song-writing and production choices. Reflecting Nathan's live shows, the CD contains
full band renditions, plus stripped-down guitar/vocal arrangements. The artwork was inspired by the
opening song, Many Pennies, with it's New Orleans style groove and playful lyrics.

Primarily an acoustic-pop album, there are pensive, somber songs; Fight of My Life, with its sad, poignant tale of real-life boxer Jerry Quarry; Through This House, with the protagonist walking alone through his darkened house: and Tough Times, which addresses domestic violence in a very profound, unique way.

Lighter offerings include South Carolina, and Boston, for those inclined to James Taylor stylings. The sultry
smooth (Let's Find...)The Storm , while romantic in nature, is an early indication of Nathan's lyrical
leaning towards dark & sensual themes. A track called T-Bone Steak is hidden after Boston, for those patient enough to get there. Its funky, blues-based approach is quite unlike anything else on the CD.
