The Sexual Assault Network of Delaware (SAND) with ContactLifeline, Inc. will present “SAND Wipeout: Singer/Songwriter Showcase,” at The Bandstand in the Town of Bethany Beach, DE on Saturday, April 21, 2012 from 3:00PM to 6:00PM, in recognition of April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month. This year’s event will headlined by Nathan Adam Johnson at 5pm, who will be backed by fellow musician Pete Wiedmann, bassist for long-standing east coast rockers Love Seed Jump Mama. Melissa Alesi, a highly talented singer/songwriter, will be showcasing at 3pm. Check her music out here.

SAND and ContactLifeline are proud to bring a Sexual Assault Awareness Month event to the Town of Bethany Beach for the first time. On average, someone is sexually assaulted every two minutes in the United States. Sexual assault can be uncomfortable to talk about, which is why the 2012 theme for Sexual Assault Awareness month is “It’s Time… To Talk About It!”. The SAND Wipeout is an opportunity to encourage the Delaware community to “wipeout” sexual assault in all its forms, and to take a stand and “Talk About It!”. This event is free and open to the public and is family friendly.

SAND is Delaware’s coalition against sexual assault. ContactLifeline provides 24/7 statewide rape crisis coverage and is the state’s only 24/7 call center for suicide prevention. If you or a loved one is in crisis, please call 1-800-262-9800. For more information regarding services, please visit ContactLifeline.

Embracing Local Culture

After a relaxing 3 month break to recharge his batteries, (sans the Delaware Music Fest appearance), Nathan's performance schedule is returning to normal. On Thursday May 19th Nathan was invited to play Dogfish Head Brewery's inaugural Sunset Brewery Tour. Their recent Discovery Channel TV Show helped them gain national recognition, and their home base is in Milton, Delaware, just minutes from Nathan's new digs. People from all over the East Coast go to Dogfish Head Brewery to enjoy the beer, the people and the strange yet amazing structure known as The Stempunk Treehouse. After this initial performance, (Click to see pics!) they want to see more live performances from Nathan in conjunction with Dogfish Head events in the months ahead! So stay tuned!

Nathan is also making friends with other great local businesses. Milton's Farmer Market occurs on Friday afternoons from 4-7pm in support of local farmers & craftsman, and promotes a friendly, laid-back, small-town attitude. If you haven't been, you're really missing something special! Having performed for several fridays in April & May, Nathan will continue to be a featured live musician as part of their 2011 season. The 4th Friday of July and September will see Nathan, along with drummer/percussionist J Good, playing songs off Nathan's 4 CD's (nice tie-in, huh?), and his usual eclectic mix of covers. Make plans to come out & hear Nathan’s acoustic laidback rock sound all while munching on fresh berries and delicious beef jerky from the local butcher.

Notable live shows
Since relocating to the east coast of the United States in the beginning 2011, Nathan has being welcomed into many events & venues. Most recently in February of 2012 he showcased both Friday & Saturday nights at the 16th annual Millennium Music Conference in Camp Hill, PA. In September of 2011, Nathan put together a full-band to perform at Sunfest, the largest festival in Ocean City, Maryland. A successful afternoon performance resulted in being asked to fill an additional slot that same night, due to another act taking ill. Lucky break!

Nathan traveled back to Texas twice in 2011 for gigs, but primarily spent time in Delaware playing in Rehoboth Beach, Dewey Beach, Lewes, Milton... introducing his music to locals and the 1,000's of visitors that flock to the beaches. In April of 2011 he showcased at the Rusty Rudder as part of the annual Delaware Music Festival held in Dewey Beach.

Nathan has worked in the Texas area for the majority of his career, in large part around Dallas. He successfully performed at many festivals, special events & venues through-out the region and sometimes out-of-state. He opened up for Austin, TX phenom/recording artist Bob Schneider twice in 2008 year - once in early February and again in June. Nathan contributes on CD
Singer/Songwriter Daniel De La Rocha's latest CD, Underdressed But Not Under Duress, is a funky, R&B, soulful mix of songs. Nathan co-wrote 2 tracks (Winning & Losing, and My Favorite Part of Me) plus provided backing vocals on four tracks as well. (Winning & Losing, Favorite Part of Me, Devil In Between, and You Won't Be Lying Here). The November 2008 release was recorded in Carrollton, TX at Nomad Studios around October 2008 and features Rocha's soothing vocals and searing guitar work.

Nathan & Daniel's affiliation began in 2007 when Nathan moon-lighted in Daniels original Alt/Country band at the time, providing rhythm guitar and backing vocals. They also gave a handful of performances as a duo, featuring songs from each's respective catalogue. Daniel (under the name Josh Daniels) played electric guitar on four tracks from Nathan's The Feeling I Got project, then was also kind enough to have contributed electric guitar on The Weatherman from Nathan's (then unreleased) Dames Dreams and Other Dreary Things project.

If you're ever around North Texas, look up this exciting performer and pick up a copy of his original music!
